About Little Grass Shack
Your Source Of Aloha
The Little Grass Shack first hit the airwaves of KUNV 91.5 FM back in August of 2000. The Little Grass Shack has set standards by being the longest running Hawaiian radio show in Las Vegas and the first & only on the FM frequency.
We are proud to share our Aloha Spirit, our island culture, our lifestyle and traditions by means of music and entertainment.
Da LGS Hui
On Air DJ Personality
Emory Nihipali Jr. [Island Emory] is the man who started it all in August 2000. As the creator of the Little Grass Shack, he envisioned a Hawaiian & island radio show which could reach the people through the FM frequency. Host Island Emory and the Little Grass Shack brings the Hawaiian & Aloha to the 9th Island of Las Vegas.
Punaboy, Da Webmastah
On Air DJ Personality
Punaboy, Francis Paul G. (a.k.a. Frankie Paul) is a co-host DJ Personality who refers to himself as a “sidekick” to the show. His true “Local Boy” mentality & Pidgin English brings a definite charm to make you feel like you’re back in Hawaii. It’s a sure bet you’ll see Punaboy at island style functions as he doubles as an emcee host. He is a self taught web designer and webmaster responsible for maintaining this “outstaunishing” (inside joke) website, LittleGrassShack.net, his magazine blog website called AlohaValley.com and his internet radio website island9radio.com, the LGS Facebook Page, AlohaValley Facebook Page and is an administrator to a Facebook group called 9th Island Connections.
Big Island Emory
The man behind the scenes. Emory Sr. a.k.a. Big Island Emory is father to Island Emory (obviously, theory behind his name) makes sure everything runs smoothly at the Little Grass Shack. Much of the old time favorite Hawaiian classics you hear on the show came from Big Island Emory, from converted vinyl records, CD to digital. He keeps tabs on Las Vegas & Hawaii news, current events, answers your phone calls, manages visitor screening & hospitality. He also ensures show staff members are comfortably satisfied with “onolicious” kaukau.
Oh Hotzama; she goes between Hawaii & Las Vegas, we call her the Deal Findah, Coupon Clippah, the Frugal Guru, & the Island Hoppah, because that’s what she does. On a daily basis Hotzama is always out and about in search for those super deals around Las Vegas & Hawaii. She reports Las Vegas and/or Hawaii deals to the radio studio for on-air segments and “on-island” reports from Hawai’i. Hotzama also helps with promotion and staffing of the Little Grass Shack festival information booths and other Hawaii/Las Vegas events.
Johnie Magic spends the majority of his time behind the scenes. Half the time he’s behind a camera filming video and taking photos. The other half of the time he’s in the editing room. Johnie is the Little Grass Shack’s One Stop Shop. Photo shoots, video filming, directing and editing, public promotion, and internet marketing.
